NHL Stars of the Month of January – Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals was named the first star with 12 goals and 3 assists for 15 points in 13 games. Ovechkin also hit 30 goals for the 10th straight season from the start of his career. He joined an exclusive club, of only 4 other NHL players by doing so. John Tavares of the New York Islanders was named the second star with 8 goals and 8 assists for 16 points in 12 games. Tavares also scored 4 goals at the 2015 NHL All- Star Game in Columbus. Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins was named the third star by going 7-1-3 with a 1.61 goals-against average, a .949 save percentage, and added a shutout in 11 games.
