Semyon Varlamov Records Fifth Shutout
Semyon Varlamov of the Colorado Avalanche recorded his fifth shutout of the season on March 7, 2015. Colorado battled against the Columbus Blue Jackets and were victorious, shutting them out 4 – 0. The Blue Jackets outshout Colorado 44 – 33, but Varlamov was up to the task, stopping all 44 shots that he faced, leading the Avalanche to the win. It was his 21st win this season and the five shutouts is a career high for him, and puts him in a two-way tie for 6th for most shutouts in the NHL.
